Transfer from Budadiri (1,250m) to Bumasola (1,770m) to begin your ascent. Hike 3 km through local farmland and communities before entering Mount Elgon National Park. Navigate the dramatic “Wall of Death” cliff ladders and trek through lush montane forest, spotting black-and-white colobus monkeys and endemic birds. Reach Sasa River Camp for lunch and rest. Summit Wagagai Peak, Mount Elgon’s highest point. Explore unique alpine features, including Jackson Pool, Simu Valley, and the crater rim. Spot wildlife such as civet cats, bushbucks, and duikers, along with high-altitude plants like lobelia elgonesis. Descend back to Mude Cave Camp for relaxation after a rewarding day. Descend through bamboo and montane forest zones, passing the Mudange cliffs, known as the “Wall of Death.” Exit the park at Bumasola, receive your summit certificate, and transfer to Mbale for a hot shower, dinner, and rest.
